Looking for ideas for next year’s New Year’s Eve party? Bring on the glitter and gold. With the right supplies you can turn your house into a fun and chic venue for drinks and dancing without the hassle of bars or clubs. And the best part? These ideas can be used to add a little TLC to any occasion, regardless of the theme.

DESSERT TABLE

Let’s be honest, the best part of a dessert table is the dessert, right? The dessert table, or any serving table for that matter, is a functional space as opposed to a decorative space. Adding a few accent pieces may be all you need to tie this space into the rest of your décor.

For this table, I used a plastic gold tablecloth from Party City as the base, and made a table runner using a roll of 20″ wide gold deco mesh. I also used it to make the runner for the drink table, the base of the mantle décor, and even had some left over for a deco mesh wreath! I always like to incorporate flower arrangements and lighting accents into any centerpiece,  so I painted a vase and mason jars to match the gold theme. I even found gold wire flower accents that added extra sparkle to the white and green arrangement. To spruce up the chandelier, I made gold glitter balls that caught the light from the candles and created a disco ball-esque effect.

DRINK TABLE

Similar to the dessert table, I only needed to add a few accent pieces to the drink table to tie it into the theme. Again, I used the gold deco mesh to make a runner, and covered the table with gold tinsel to make it even more festive. I placed another fresh flower arrangement in the corner, and painted old St. Germain bottles to give them a chic look that fit the theme of the space (drinks!). The champagne tower was the perfect finishing touch to the table. It’s not New Year’s Eve without a champagne toast!

MANTLE DECOR

For this party, the mantle was really the centerpiece of the décor. This space was purely decorative, so I put the most festive pieces here. I placed gold deco mesh on the mantle as a base and to add texture, and covered it with tinsel to glitz it up. Then, using gold acrylic paint, I turned ordinary wooden numbers into the perfect centerpiece for the room and accented them with painted glass bottles. Because I have the tendency to ‘over buy’ when I frequent any craft store (that may be an understatement), I used the extra flower accents from my flower arrangements to make the painted bottles pop! I also placed gold candles around the décor, added some balloons, and even covered our TV with gold fabric to create a festive backdrop. To extend the space, I tied dangling paper cutouts to the deco mesh, which glistened in front of the fire.

PHOTO WALL

At some point in my crafting craze, I decided that I needed gold sequin fabric to cover our large wall unit. I had to sew two long pieces of fabric together to cover the whole unit, but it ended up being the perfect backdrop for photos! I added more dangling paper cutouts, a ‘Happy New Year’ banner from Party City, a gold bead garland, and some balloons to give the wall some extra pizazz. It was quite a hit, as evidenced by the picture at the bottom of this post, and it may become a staple at all future parties…

DECO MESH WREATH

Once the inside was finished (and I had reached my gold quota) I thought it would be fun to extend the décor to the porch. A simple deco mesh wreath was the perfect way to accent the decorations inside and provided an initial glimpse of what was in store on the other side of the door. It was really easy to throw together and can be made in any color scheme or size you need!

When the wreath was finished, I swapped my deco mesh for a cocktail and rang in the new year with some of my favorite people. After all, the best part of party planning is the party. Happy 2015, everyone!
